Election Day + 1 to Inauguration Day + 1: #ReunionAmerica launch to do whatever I can do to help facilitate bipartisan social capital across our various cultural barriers.
NOTE: Putnam ("Bowling Alone"): Networks have value. Nonviolent horizontal democratic networks communicate better, are more resilient, and are ultimately more powerful than violent, vertical, fascist hierarchies.
And the earlier we engage such hierarchies, the greater the advantage.
People - even Gandhi - wondered whether nonviolent civil resistance would have taken Hitler down.
I suspect that in, say, 1942, the answer would have been "no."
But sometime between 1922 and 1933?
I think so.
The problem the American people would have to overcome would be what doomed the Republicans: they did nothing, hoping someone else would take the risk (as Kinzinger and Cheney did).
This is worst case, with a Trump victory.
What if he loses?
I THINK and HOPE he will but it's a jump ball.
I'll pursue the same program no matter who wins. Almost half the country, despite everything, would put him back in the Oval Office.
And those people will still be there the day after the Inauguration.
We simply must rebuild American social capital or end the American experiment.
I have some talent at reading, thinking about what I've read, and writing. However, I SUCK at running events and building teams. But I'd rather suck at something worthwhile than excel at causing damage so, game on.
